The episode starts out with Officer Jenny talking in her radio explaining that some crooks are on the loose. She sees Ash carrying his Pikachu and she tells him to stop. She thinks that Ash stole that Pokémon and asks him for some identification. He says that he doesn’t have any and Jenny sees a Pokédex in his pocket. She swipes it from him and tells him that his Pokédex is used for his identification. Ash is relived and asks Jenny to take him to the Pokémon center. She does and they meet up with Nurse Joy. Nurse Joy orders the Chansey to take Pikachu to the emergency room. Now Ash has to wait in the waiting room. Ash waits for a very long time. Ash calls his mom and says that he is okay. Ash then notices some pictures of rare Pokémon on the wall. He notices the rare Pokémon he saw this morning and then Prof. Oak calls him. Prof. Oak doesn’t believe his story when Ash explained that he saw a rare Pokémon. Prof. Oak leaves and Ash sees Misty.
Misty is very angry at Ash for stealing her bike and breaking it. Ash says that he will get her a new bike as soon as soon as he knows that Pikachu is okay. Misty lightens up and then they see the Chansey and Nurse Joy come out of the emergency room. Ash is glad to see that Pikachu is okay. Suddenly, the alarm sounds and the crooks come. The crooks happen to be Team Rocket who wants all the Pokémon in the Pokémon center. Ash, Misty, and Nurse Joy hide in another room. Nurse Joy soon activates a machine and begins to transfer the Pokémon to Pewter City. Team Rocket cuts the electricity but a group of Pikachu brings the electricity back. The group of Pikachu then uses their Thundershock to shock Team Rocket. Ash’s Pikachu soon recovers and uses the light on Misty’s bike to begin charging itself up. It then aims one Thunderbolt at Team Rocket. The Pokémon center explodes and Team Rocket gets blasted off.
Ash, Misty, and Pikachu say their goodbyes and then head off to Viridian Forest.
